He has participated in 18 R&D&I projects funded in competitive calls, 8 of them European under different framework programmes. He was the PI of a "Proyecto de I+D de Generación de Conocimiento" (ADAGIO, 2018-2021) and of a F2I-Ideas project of FBG-UB. He was the entrepreneur investigator of a Llavor project from Generalitat de Catalunya and the PI of two GICSERV projects. He has also participated in two teaching innovation projects – SceTGo (funded by EU-LLP) and “Maleta Pedagógica ECBI” (funded by La Fundación la Caixa). In those projects he collaborated with the Pedagogy Faculty of the University of Barcelona as a physics expert. He has supervised 2 PhD thesis in the last years (Dr. F. Ferrarese Lupi and Dr. M. Colombano). Both students have progressed succesfully with their career in research, one already as a permanent researcher at Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica in Torino (Italy) and the second as a post-doc researcher at the Université de Paris (Laboratoire Matériaux et Phénomènes Quantiques, Paris, France) Additionally, Dr. D. Navarro-Urrios has officially supervised 4 Master Student thesis and 6 final degree students in the last five years. Dr. Navarro-Urrios is also organizer of the Symposium "Organized Nanostructures and Nano-objects: Fabrication, characterization and applications" in EMRS Fall every two years. He is also editorial board member of Scientific Reports and reviewer of project proposals of several national agencies such as the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Germany) and the Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva (ANEP, Spain).
